Install

We divided the whole installation into 3 understandable steps for you. Follow this simple procedure and you will encounter no problems with Process Painter at all.

Java Runtime Environment (JRE)

Java is required for the application to load. If you don't have it you can download it from the Sun Microsystems Website. You can read more information about Sun's Java or go directly to the download site of the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) and then click on the link "download J2SE JRE".

Internet Information Server (IIS)
You need also Microsoft's IIS for the Web elements to load. Microsoft Windows XP Home Users may be not able to use Process Painter 1.0. Please check beforehand if you have already fully installed it (depends on your settings during the installation of windows).

To do that go to Start-> Settings -> Control Panel -> Software. There click at the "add/remove Windows components" tab and check from the list if IIS is checked (take care the box is not grey). In case it isn't, check it and click on proceed to install it. You will need to have your windows-cd on the cd-drive.

Installation of Process Painter
Finally, you can proceed with the installation of Process Painter. The install set of Process Painter includes the software plus the needed database (open source database "cache"). Please click on the setup.exe file to start the installation process. Follow the installation wizard step by step to complete the installation. A desktop icon will be created that links to a local website that actually starts the software. Click on it and explore the new world of Process Painter!

Starting Process Painter
After a successful installation Process Painter will create an desktop icon on your system which will start the program. By clicking it your web browser will open and load the application window. You are ready now and can start using the software that allows you to create great visualizations of your Business Processes so easily!
